Ever since its introduction in late 2022, Generative AI has transformed almost every field, including consumer electronics. Samsung has gone all in on AI for nearly all its products and services starting with the Galaxy S24 series. Now, the company is reportedly planning to reorganize its TV lineup around these AI capabilities.
Currently, Samsung offers multiple tiers of TVs, which include Crystal UHD, Mini LED, QLED, Neo QLED, OLED, Micro RGB, and Micro LED models. Going forward, the company is reportedly trying to simplify its TV lineup by using smartphone-style tiers and abandoning complex, technology-based names.
Samsung TVs will be categorized into AI TV Basic, AI TV Plus, and AI TV Ultra models
ETNews claims that Samsung's premium TV lineup will be reorganized into a three-tier system: AI TV Basic, AI TV Plus, and AI TV Ultra. This resembles the naming scheme of the company's Galaxy S series phones, such as the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The Ultra models will feature high-end display technologies, including Micro RGB and OLED, while the Basic tier will use Mini LED technology. The LCD-based Crystal UHD line will remain a separate tier and represent the most affordable Samsung TVs.

Samsung is also expected to end the mass production of QLED TVs in 2027 to fully transition to Mini LED and Micro LED TVs. The company is reportedly pivoting away from relying on hardware profit margins in its TV division, aiming to restructure revenue around AI-based subscription services instead.
The South Korean firm hopes to increase its TV shipments from 35 million units in 2026 to over 40 million in 2027. However, it remains to be seen how many consumers are willing to pay for AI-powered features and services. If this strategy fails to resonate, Samsung's decision could backfire in a major way.
